What dollar amount is the most that the US would pay on any one individual with universal health care?

Ender asked:

There’s no such thing as “free health care”. Someone is paying for it, and because someone is paying for it, you can’t spend as if the funds are limitless.

Generally all health insurance companies have a “lifetime maximum” in the policy.

So, with universal health care, at what dollar amount would the US government refuse to give people treatment and require them die or seek treatment outside of the US?

I don’t know if you are old enough to remember
“Soylent Green” a 1973 dystopian science fiction movie depicting a future in which global warming and overpopulation lead to depleted resources on Earth. This in turn leads to widespread unemployment and poverty. Real fruit, vegetables, and meat are rare, commodities are expensive, and much of the population survives on processed food rations, including “soylent green” wafers.

It’s worth watching…….it may give you your answer

First of all, Obama has not said he is bringing in universal healthcare. The last link below goes into it more.

In the UK, there is no limit. Care is funded on many factors, one being quality of life and the main one being cost effectiveness of the treatment. Again in the UK an independent body comments on this.

FACT – the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet.

FACT – the US has higher death rates for kids aged under five than western European countries with universal health coverage.

That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, France, Cuba, Germany, Japan etc, all of which have universal health coverage. The Patriot

If it cost more to fix your arm then to cut it off. Looks like you will have only one arm when they are done with you. Old people are not worth fixing according to statics in other countries with universal community welfare health care programs, such as the one America will be adopting. Old people will die and the young will live with less body parts. Hope this helps. docholiday
