How can elected officials represent the people with their own health care and financial system?

Rollnrock asked:

Can someone please explain to me how we can be represented by leadership that is not a part of our system? Do you think they care about being over run, our health care or retirement? Why go off shore for cheap labor, its here now and getting cheaper. I still get up each day with a glimmer of hope, but I fear the end is near. God help us all.

It is an unfortunate fact that many Americans pay more attention to American Idol than what goes on in Congress, or taking the time to call, write, or even pay a visit to an elected official to express how angry they are.

When considering a candidate to vote for (if they even vote) , too many bite hard on campaign promises without even questioning how the person plans to accomplish the proposal, or if it has ANY chance of actually be implemented.

But we keep on electing & reelecting the same charming, attractive, persuausive people, & ignore or make fun of someone honest enough to speak in honest realistic terms (candor is not a virtue when seeking election) SantaBud
